I generally have little sympathy for pampered, wealthy rock stars. But it’s hard not to feel a bit sorry for Chris Martin and Coldplay these days. After all, they just put out a new album — but the only thing people are talking about is Martin’s claim that they’re going to “retire.” Never mind that they plan to make two more LPs first, will probably renege on the deal anyway, and don’t plan to stop touring no matter what; it seems everyone just wants Martin and co. to fuck the hell off ASAP. If you’re in that group, skip the Today show on Tuesday.
