Classic Album Review: Scissor Sisters | Scissor Sisters

The New York retro-dance troupe make the cut with their glittery debut release.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Come for the kitschy-cool Bee Gees-at-Studio 54 disco revamp of Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb.

Stay for the whole glittery program of ’70s musical recidivism, from the Stevie Wonder-does-David Bowie funk of Laura to the Elton John-in-falsetto piano-pop of Take Your Mama. This makes the cut.
