Classic Album Review: Fenix TX | Fenix TX

The Texas pop-core foursome are definitely on the rise with this rocking release.

This came out in 1999 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Any band that has a song called Jean-Claude Trans Am is OK in my book.

Especially when that band is Texas pop-core foursome Fenix TX — who were called Riverfenix until they got threatened with a lawsuit from the late actor’s estate. And the icing on the cake is that along with all this punk-dude ’tude, these guys rock. Over a bed of SoCal pop-crunch power chords and spunky punk rhythms, Fenix TX layer crystalline Dickies harmonies and mile-a-minute melodies, churning out fast, furiously funny odes to surfing trendoids, soul-sucking minimum-wage jobs, and taking a Louisville Slugger to your girlfriend’s abusive dad. This Fenix is definitely on the rise.
