Classic Album Review: The Fall | 50,000 Fall Fans Can’t Be Wrong

Is it even possible to sum up the so-called career of Mark E. Smith & co.?

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

After 28 years, 24 studio albums, 22 live albums, 41 singles and 48 members, is it even possible to sum up the so-called career of cantankerous mumbler Mark E. Smith and his ramshackle post-punk collective The Fall? Seek the answer in this ambitious two-disc compilation.

HITS: You’ve gotta be kidding.

MISSES: Too many to list — not that the compilers are to blame. Even a 10-disc Fall box would overlook something.

EXTRAS: Enough obscure singles and assorted tracks to keep the trainspotters happy.
