Orion Redwolf lights up your world with his warmly inviting new single Glow — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
Glow is a transformative track from the American producer and artist, continuing a series of monthly releases slate to last well into 2025. This single, along with his recent release Stormy Days, mark Redwolf’s first collaborative works with a co-producer on his own material. Matt Wyatt (Night Teacher, Self) supported Redwolf’s music at his personal studio Tree and Booms, through engineering and his jazz-oriented drumming.
“Music has always been my way of connecting with the world and most people I know stem from music in some context or the other,” Redwolf says. “It makes sense that extending that into the production would feel great! Glow is special in that it had a community around the creation; Matt’s influence on the sonics and Elie’s influences on the lyrics.”
With the two creatives combined, Redwolf’s vision for Glow came to life. The fantastical lyrics that adorn the track were sculpted around Redwolf’s childhood memories of reading fables and hold lyrical contributions from longtime collaborator Elie Bashkow. The single serenely reclines on a loping, finger-style guitar riff, whilst the Virginia artists’ dusty, bending vocals guide listeners on a journey through an enchanted forest.
“Glow is inspired by a big book of the original versions of Grimm’s Fairy Tales I read at 11 or 12 while my dad was in the hospital,” he says “In a couple of the stories, the main characters are walking through a magical forest with trees made first of silver, then gold and finally of gemstones before reaching their enchanted destination.”
The varied instrumentation by Redwolf, including slide guitars and Wurlitzer sailing over Wyatt’s bombastic drumming, mirrors the lyrical narrative, creating a feeling as though fantastical characters are popping by for a cup of tea at dusk.
Redwolf is an American songwriter, producer, and artist renowned for his emotive and introspective genre-blurring style. He has been active as a producer and songwriter long before his artistic debut in 2018 under the moniker Orion and The Melted Crayons. Orion adopted his middle name, Redwolf, to convey the personal nature of his new material. Case in point: Previous single Stormy Days was written at 14, the day after his father died.
As a child in Virginia, Redwolf spent hours upon hours playing his emotions out on his mother’s Baldwin Acrosonic piano and listening to a battery-powered radio, making up his own words and melodies for pop songs before he ever began writing his own songs. Now, Redwolf’s rich and bendy vocals deliver his direct songwriting, soaring over intricate guitar lines and luscious production. Lyrically, he draws inspiration from human experience and the world, crafting evocative compositions that resonate deeply with listeners.
In addition to releasing his own music, Redwolf produces and writes for artists around the U.S., channeling their musical visions. His hand can be heard on the material of Eloise Granville, Isabel March, J-Renee, Kat Hammock and more. His instrumental and engineering contributions can be heard on many compositions, including material by Andrew Montana, Nan Macmillan and Kendall Street Company, to name a few.
