Stim Junkeez & Sebastianhead Scale The Pyramids Of Perception

The Toronto EDM duo expand their sonic footprint with the help of Sappho & more.

Stim Junkeez and Sebastianhead guide you to new sonic heights on their monumental and multi-dimensional sophomore album Pyramids Of Perception — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

The long-overdue followup to 2020’s Time Over Time LP finds the Toronto chillout collaborators expanding their hybrid EDM sound, adding more pop, deep house, synthwave, and psychedelic elements to their guitar-driven electronic beats.

Spearheaded by the visionary funk and pumping house of lead single See The Matrix — featuring the intimately soulful vocals of singer-songwriter Sappho — the LP features remixes from Canadian DJ Marchisio, as well as Italian producers Aniello Guerra, Bob Rage & Peanuke, Erik Strauss and more.

The SJSH collaboration began in the mid 2010s, focusing on a shared interest in ambient, new age and downtempo music. With electronic beats built around the David Gilmour-esque guitar playing of Sebastianhead, they released the singles Meis Disciples, Binary Sun and Inception Point. That culminated in their first compilation LP Time Over Time, which featured a selection of their favorite remixes from DJs and producers from around the world.

As work began on their followup, bandmember Dave Habza brought in sci-pop artist Sappho Hansen Smythe to handle lyrics and vocals for their lead single, resulting in the pop-driven See The Matrix. The album also includes the synthwave-inspired Neon Strip, before the familiar psychedelic downtempo of the title track builds into an intense neo-classical guitar solo.
