This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

I gotta say, that title seems a tad optimistic. But I also gotta say there’s no doubt Carolina queercore trio The Butchies aim high with Make Yr Life.

Fronted by former Team Dresch singer-guitarist Kaia Wilson, the B women serve up 10 shimmering slices of sharply written, solidly produced indie-punk on this fourth full-length. Think Sleater-Kinney in a poppier, more romantic mood — with No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani contributing the odd vocal and melody — and you’ll know what to expect from sugar-buzz gems like Send Me You and Trouble. It may not make your life, but it could make your day.
