THE SKINNY: Like a grunge band with more versatility, Page Hamilton’s Helmet upgraded their swaggering guitar metal with drop-D tunings and rhythmic complexity, drafting the precursor for today’s nü-metal. Unsung condenses their four CDs down to 21 tracks.
THE OLDIES: Bludgeoning blasts like In The Meantime, Give It, Milquetoast, Sinatra.
THE GOODIES: Just a couple of soundtrack cuts like Just Another Victim, a rap-metal collaboration with House of Pain.
