Get The Fuck Outta Dodge don’t learn from their mistakes — they just make things worse. Following on from the imaginatively titled These Songs Aren’t Ours and These Songs Still Aren’t Ours, These Song Aren’t Ours Either is their third collection of other people’s songs both played and recorded badly — and premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.
In this episode, the demented Sheffield duo of drummer Ren and bassist James take on 12 tracks from the likes of Devo, Kim Wilde, Buzzcocks, Queens Of The Stone Age, Beastie Boys, Hives and Nelly Furtado, but also from somewhat up-to-date artists like Gayle and Wolf Alice. They have also roped in their best bud from Japan kiYOmi to shout down the phone to Bikini Kill’s Rebel Girl. All 12 tracks were made way before Ren smashed up his ankles and were recorded at home on way-too-old Macs and broken Ipads.
These Songs Aren’t Ours Either is available to stream and download via Bandcamp. There will also be a very-limited cassette release that will live in a hollowed-out smut book with comic bubbles stuck to it. There will be nine, they only made nine. Nowt fancy and the tapes might fall out as they were a bit shit with the first couple but yeh, never done this before, so don’t judge yeh? No two are the same, so you gonna just get one at random, made from different books init.
Cassettes are made with the loving help from Decked Out! Tapes from round the corner. These ain’t like new tapes; these tapes had some old dude’s compilations on them, so they blanked them and then put their shit on top, they are MONO and wonky sounding, but it is what it is. Oh and just buy one, don’t be a dick and buy more than one.
For those who still don’t get it: Get The Fuck Outta Dodge are Ren, pounder of drums, shouting and brains and James, dirty bassmeister and unbridled talent. An unstoppable juggernaut of short sharp shocks of throbbing bass riffs and frenetic drum madness to soundtrack the demise of the listener’s sanity.
GTFOD have been touting their DIY brand of punkhardcorergaragerocknroll in various taverns, basements, outhouses and dens of iniquity across the U.K. and have a prolific catalogue of three albums, three covers albums, three EPs and have appeared on more compilations than you can shake a cake at. Get The Fuck Outta Dodge have the brains and the brawn and will take you down to toy town!
