Classic Album Review: Various Artists | 2 Fast 2 Furious Soundtrack

The 81-track sequel soundtrack runs out of gas long before the finish line.

This came out in 2003 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Expect to hear this Fast And The Furious sequel soundtrack whomping out of a souped-up gas-guzzler at a stop light near you any day.

It’s got everything the rap-loving, muscle-car set loves: Thumping basslines, racing-themed raps, snippets of dialogue and even racing sounds from the movie. And hell, it even jumps off the starting line, with decent cuts from Trick Daddy, 8 Ball and 2 Fast 2 Furious so-stars Ludacris and Tyrese (who also enlist R. Kelly for a guest spot). But thanks to a roster monopolized by no-names, this 18-track sucker runs out of gas long before the finish line. Next time, they should keep an extra can in the trunk.
