Eamon McGrath Announces A Dizzying Lust Album, More Tour Dates & New Single

The relentlessly prolific artist announces his eighth— yes, eighth — album of 2023.

If there’s a word that sums up Eamon McGrath’s musical output, it’s dizzying.

After all, it’s barely been a month since the restlessly creative and insanely prolific singer-songwriter simultaneously released seven (yes, seven) new albums. But in typical fashion, he’s already gearing up for his next offering — the fittingly titled A Dizzying Lust.

The Alberta-raised, Toronto-based artist’s eighth album of 2023, A Dizzying Lust — which arrives March 31 on on Saved By Vinyl and his own Cassettes Records imprint — is a collection of minimalist acoustic folk tracks written and composed while on the road during his 10-month world tour in support of his other 2022 release, the critically acclaimed Bells Of Hope. Get a taste of what you’re in for with the first single Teenager, a southern-tinged track premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.

Tracked by McGrath alone in Windsor, A Dizzying Lust finds him channeling the frontier spirit of a folk singer alone on the road with an acoustic guitar. His trademark notoriety as a savage rocker is put to the test here as he opts instead for a rare subtle minimalism, focusing his attention on the lyrics and songs. A Dizzying Lust will be released on CD and all streaming platforms, with McGrath taking the songs across Ontario and Europe on tour this spring.

For the resilient and fiercely independent artist, A Dizzying Lust is “an attempt to laugh in the face of all the challenges that have been thrown our way over the last three years,” he says. “These days, it’s a more important time than ever to keep costs low by being as DIY as possible: Not only is it a great time to have a down-to-earth punk rock spirit, but jamming econo is now the only way to keep your career as a musician afloat with rising costs and manufacturing delays.”

Not that anything can stop McGrath. Over the past 15-plus years, he’s relentlessly toured Canada, the U.K., the U.S., Europe, Mexico and Japan. He has released over 25 albums, written two books, scored two films, and cultivated an international audience and a loyal network of fans. His DIY approach has garnered him respect and admiration in the indie-rock and folk communities, as he bridges a gap between genres, composing heartbreakingly beautiful songs that are performed with an honest, intense energy.

In 2022, McGrath resurrected his Cassettes Records imprint to release seven albums of new music on New Years’ Day. The limited vinyl pressings sold out immediately on subsequent 2023 tour dates with The Mahones and Will Hoge.
