The Less You Know, The Better | Three Mysterious New Releases Worth Hearing

Who are The Adretti, Bzdet and Boyo? Damned if I know. But they're all worth a spin.

A little mystery can be a good thing. Especially these days.

Sprinkled amid the hundreds of gushing press releases, oversharing bios and TMI missives that assault my email on a daily basis, I get links to tons of albums, EPs and singles that have been thrust upon an uncaring world accompanied by zero information. No bio, no press release, no detailed liner notes — hell, sometimes no credits at all. Where do these people come from and what are they up to? Do they not want publicity? Are they trying to be enigmatic? Or are they just woefully inept at self-promotion? I don’t know, and frankly I don’t care. Nor do I want to waste my time trying to track them down online. I’d rather just listen to (and share) their music without knowing everything about them. Or anything, for that matter. In a way, it reminds me of the old days when you would walk into a record store and buy an album based on the cool cover art or because you heard it played on the store stereo. With that in mind, here are some of the latest, greatest and most mysterious musical offerings to come my way:

The Andretti
Chaos Arcadia EP

HOME BASE: New York City.
GENRE: Loosely hinged prog-punk heaviness.

Bzdet
Daleko OD OK

HOME BASE: Poland, I think.
GENRE: Sinister, angular art-punk weirdness.

Boyo
Science Fiction

HOME BASE: Los Angeles.
GENRE: Dusty indie-rock strokes.
