Sonic Reducers | The Boss Of All Paydays

Springsteen just sold his music for $500M — & we have something to say about that.

If you’re a Bruce Springsteen fan, you probably know he just sold his music catalog — including his master recordings — to his longtime label Sony for a deal worth a reported $500 million. And if you’re a Springsteen fan, you might be feeling kind of conflicted about that.

Granted, it anyone deserves half a bil for his life’s work, it’s The Boss. And you can’t blame anybody for saying yes to several semi-trailers full of cold hard cash (and the resulting tax breaks and benefits for his family). Even so, it’s kind of disappointing to have yet another working-class hero remind us that everyone has his price — and that ultimately, everything is about money. Or at least, that’s kind of how Eric Alper and I feel about it. Listen in to today’s episode of Sonic Reducers as we discuss Springsteen’s big payday, debate which artists might be next in the bread line, and wonder when we can expect to start hearing Hungry Heart in McDonald’s commercials. Sonic Reducers. One topic. Two music nerds. Five minutes. Everything you need to know.
