Late-Night TV Music (Old & New Edition) | Feb. 8, 2021

Your options: Foo Fighters, Michael McDonald & a visit to Metallica's Costco aisle.

Something old, something new … and then something even older. Those are your fairly limited choices in this episode of Late-Night TV Music.

The new? Foo Fighters playing Waiting On A War — from their upbeat (and predictably polarizing) new album Medicine At Midnight — on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The old: Michael McDonald cranking out the Doobie Brothers classic What A Fool Believes for the millionth time on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Of course, neither of them were as strange as Metallica’s rendition of Enter Sandman on The Late Late Show With Stephen Colbert’s post-Super Bowl show on Sunday. Do Metallica rehearse and store their gear in Costco these days? Why are the cameras at such weird angles? Is Robert Trujillo even there? And seriously, what’s with that moustache? These are the questions that keep me up at night. Well, that and my old-man insomnia. Anyway, enjoy.
