Tinnitist Groover Playlist 7 | A Lucky Streak

Jeny Kern, Daniele Nick, Helma, Mercuryo & the rest of the new gems.

I recently joined Groover, a platform that connects artists with critics like me for a small fee. Every day or two, I’m posting a Spotify playlist of the latest submissions. You can find the latest one below, and at the lower right of every page on this site. Since most artists also submit Soundcloud or YouTube links, I’m posting those here. If you want to send me a track, you can click on the widget at right (just below the playlist) or just click HERE. But first, check out today’s outstanding submissions:

Jenny Kern | Now We Know

HOME BASE: United States.
GENRE: Folk-pop.
THE BIO & PRESS RELEASE: “Jenny performed around Montreal during University before moving to NYC in 2013 where she started as a page at NBC and quickly worked her way up to producer in the film and television industry. In 2018 Jenny decided to take a leap of faith and pursue full time her passion for music and songwriting. Drawing on her own experiences, her songs unfold through a confessional-style delivery revealing the strength that can only come through vulnerability. “It’s almost cathartic, sharing emotion. Being open is not an easy feat for anyone. I want people to know that these songs come from an honest place. We all struggle to find comfort in ourselves while being open to the unexpected.” In the fall of 2018, she recorded her debut EP and began performing at notable venues around New York City including Rockwood Music Hall and The Bitter End. Jenny’s debut EP is an intimate collection of songs from years of self-reflection on her personal experience with self-doubt, regret and the search for comfort in painful seasons. In January 2019 she released her debut single, which received wide acclaim and immediately found an international audience on streaming platforms. Shortly after she released her debut EP in April 2019, she was invited on her first international tour in Europe and was featured on MTV and ABC. “It’s been a whirlwind journey so far. With two EPs and their first album Royaume, they’ve been touring non-stop, offering noticeable shows everywhere in their home country and its great festivals (Francofolies, Printemps de Bourges, Fnac Live, Poupet, La Nuit de l’Erdre…). After more than 200 gigs, they’re now part of the french musical landscape, playing in the most prestigious venues like l’Olympia in Paris (alongside Puggy), but also on the other side of the world, as they’ve been touring through Asia for years now (China, South Korea…). Discovered when they were still teenagers, Colours in the Street were already impressive in live performance. Their pop music is both massive and powerful, perfect for huge stages. The boys are now 25 years of age, and currently working on their second album, scheduled for 2020. Built with a mature and sensible songwriting, their music is made of catchy and colorful melodies, with a very precise production, all being driven by an almost insane attention to details. This new song Somebody is the main single of the new album All the Colours (out July 3), and is set to be one of Colours in the Street’s greatest productions, again with beautiful and powerful melodies and artistic singularity. A powerful pop rock song with a spectacular and colored music video shot at the Futuroscope in France.”
