Stooges’ Fun House Box & Paul Weller’s On Sunset Top Today’s Album Announcements

The Fun House Sessions finally arrive on vinyl, just in time for their 50th anniversary

All about for fun time. Again. Half a century after Iggy Pop and The Stooges released Fun House — and two decades after Rhino Handmade dropped an incredible and insightful seven-disc box set containing every single take from the sessions — the proto-punk classic is being retooled and reissued once again for its 50th anniversary. The mightily titled Fun House 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition Vinyl Boxed Set will includes the Complete Fun House Sessions and the live album Have Some Fun on a whopping 15 vinyl albums, accompanied by a pair of singles, a 28-page box and assorted posters, pictures and more. As someone who bought the Handmade set when it came out — and will probably have it cremated with him when he dies — I can give this one a solid, unequivocal recommendation. Looking for something a little newer (and something that won’t set you back $550 US)? No sweat; erstwhile Jam and Style Council frontman Paul Weller also announced the release of his 15th studio album On Sunset, while Carcass and No Age also confirmed they’ve got new albums arriving this summer. Scroll down to scope all today’s additions, or smear peanut butter on your chest and stage-dive over to the Upcoming Releases page for the complete list.
