Micah Barnes is back in full swing with the playful video for his smoking rendition of That’s Life — premiering exclusively on Tinnitist.
The first single from the Juno-nominated Canadian singer and vocal coach’s upcoming album Vegas Breeze, That’s Life serves up a high-octane shot of classic Sin City swellegance, complete with glitz, glamour and sexy showgirls.
Born in Vienna and raised in Canada, Barnes cut his teeth in the cabarets and jazz clubs of Toronto while still a teenager, before joining a cappella veterans The Nylons in 1989. Recording and touring with The Nylons brought Micah into the global music scene, introducing his rich soulful baritone voice to music fans around the world.
Eventually he landed in Venice Beach, Calif., where he launched his solo career. Returning to the jazzier songwriting of his earlier years has led to a series of critically acclaimed recordings, including the international club hit Welcome To My Head, the EP Domesticated and his New York Stories album. The latter paid homage to the rich musical history of the Big Apple with songs that describe a long-distance romance using the rhythms of the Cotton Club, Brill Building, Apollo Theatre and Broadway.
Vegas Breeze, due in 2020, will transport the listener back to the glory days of legendary Vegas showrooms, with songs first recorded by Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Mel Torme, Peggy Lee and Lena Horne.
When he isn’t onstage, Micah is a top industry coach whose company Singers Playground is used by managers, labels, producers and directors throughout the U.S. and Canada. He has coached Emmy-winning actress Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), So You Think You Can Dance Canada’s Blake McGrath, cast members of Mirvish Productions’ The Sound Of Music and Broadway’s The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert, among many others.
