Female artists were front and centre again on Monday’s late-night TV lineup. That’s never a bad thing. It’s even better when they turn in songs as good as these. At the top of the class: Pop futurist Charli XCX, who enlisted Christine and the Queens for a pulsing performance of Gone on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Not far behind: Fellow eccentric Melanie Martinez, slinging her single Strawberry Shortcake from the top of a giant domed confection on Jimmy Kimmel Live; and the comparatively mainstream but no less satisfying Sheryl Crow, cranking out the poppy Prove You Wrong on The Late Late Show With James Corden. If that’s wrong, who needs to be right?
