Late-Night TV Music (Nostalgia Edition) | Feb. 19, 2019

Everything old is new again — and again — on Tuesday's talk shows.

Nostalgia never gets old. That was the easy lesson from Tuesday’s late-night talk-show musical lineup. You had Walk the Moon channeling the ’80s with their dance-rocker Timebomb on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. You had country-popster Lauren Alaina paying homage to Ladies in the ’90s on Late Night with Seth Meyers (though those shoulder pads seemed more ’80s to me). You had Norwegian dance-pop star Sigrid — who looks about 12 but is in fact 22, according to the Internet — bringing back the ’00s for Don’t Feel Like Crying on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Finally — and best of all for my money — you had indie-rockers Parquet Courts, skipping between ’60s folk-rock, ’70s punk, ’80s Paisley Underground and ’90s alt-rock during their three-fer of Mardi Gras Beads, Almost Had to Start a Fight and Out of Patience on Last Call With Carson Daly. That’s all for today. Come back tomorrow for another look back at your musical yesterday.
