Classic DVD Review: Weezer | Video Capture Device

The only thing missing from this exhaustive set: A commentary from Rivers Cuomo.

This came out in 2004 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Weezer have always managed to inspire cult-like devotion among their fans.

Those devotees are obviously the target market for Video Capture Device — and they won’t be disappointed. This exhaustive DVD (or exhausting, depending on your view) compiles more than three hours of Weezer footage, from the instantly familiar videos (Buddy Holly, Sweater Song) and the requisite tour footage to TV commercials and ancient home movies, mostly arranged in chronological order. All told, it’s pretty much all the Weezer you’d ever want to see. Too bad the feature most fans would want to hear — a commentary track from Rivers Cuomo — is nowhere to be found.
