This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
The howling vocals. The heartbroken angst. The chugging guitars. The ringing melodies. The slamming beats.
If you’ve heard one recent emo album, you’ve pretty much heard them all — and you’ve definitely heard pretty much everything Welsh quintet Funeral For A Friend have to offer on their dull, by-the-numbers sophomore set Hours. I’ll give them points for apparently borrowing their name from an Elton John classic. And for the Iron Maiden arpeggios that crop up here and there, betraying a more metallic influence than some of their peers would cop to. But even with that, I still couldn’t pick these guys out of an emo lineup. Hours just isn’t worth your time.
