That, to some extent, is how the electro-glitch duo of Sean Booth and Rob Brown approach their eighth full-length as Autechre. Unlike some of their mid-period works that seemed obsessed with knob-twiddling sonic manipulation, the eight cuts on this 70-minute transistorised communique pay a little more attention to composition and structure. Which is not to label art-damaged pieces like LLC or Fermium as ‘songs’ even in the loosest and most liberal sense.
