Nikita makes it clear she was the girl for you with her romantic new single No One’s Gonna — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The second preview of the emerging N.Y.C. singer-songwriter’s upcoming debut EP Suspend, No One’s Gonna stylishly hits the bittersweet spot between classic and contemporary. Opening on a fluttery folk-pop soundscape of arpeggiated guitar and breezy wind instruments — topped with Nikita’s angelic dream-cloud vocals — the track soon time-shifts ahead a generation thanks to a smouldering hip-hoppy groove and backup vocals. The lovelorn lyrics, however, are as timeless as they come, sharing a warm, emotionally rich reflection on love and presence — on what it means to feel fully connected to someone, even if only for a fleeting moment.
“This song is about leaving an interaction with someone you love and feeling full,” Nikita shares. “Walking away and recognizing your love for that person and what they mean to you, regardless of anything that could jeopardize it.”
No One Is Gonna follows on the heels of her debut single Kill Her Mind, a haunting, emotionally charged anthem described as “the sound of overthinking set to music.” With its swirling guitars and layered vocals, Kill Her Mind introduced listeners to Nikita’s ability to translate emotional chaos into sound — pulling people into the looped, internal world of post-breakup thought spirals. Together, the two tracks reveal the range of Suspend: From heartbreak’s disorientation to the quiet clarity of choosing to stay present in love, even when you know how fragile it is.
The EP explores the emotional in-between: Love and loss, connection and solitude, longing and clarity. “This is not a breakup record in the traditional sense,” Nikita explains. “It’s about the moments where you don’t have resolution yet — where you’re still sitting with the weight of something you can’t quite name.” Suspend channels that tension into something cinematic and intimate, grounding vivid emotional states in textured, atmospheric arrangements.
The project also reflects the city that shaped her. Born and raised in New York, Nikita grew up in a household steeped in music — from chamber ensembles to ’90s alt-rock — and began writing songs at 10. After a brief stint in L.A., she returned to New York with a sharper edge and deeper sense of artistic identity. That energy drives every part of Suspend, a collection that fuses delicate songwriting with raw emotion, full of moments that are both bruised and luminous.
From the dreamlike unease of Kill Her Mind to the quiet certainty of No One’s Gonna, Nikita continues to establish herself as one of indie-pop’s most emotionally resonant new voices. With each release, she invites listeners deeper into her world — a place where introspection, contradiction, and beauty coexist in delicate tension.
