Von Venn give you their full attention in their new pop-rock single You Can Talk To Me — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The first taste of the Irish indie-rock outfit’s upcoming album Forgetting The Fall, You Can Talk To Me captures the spirit of the new album with its striking guitar riff, pulsing bassline, and propulsive drum groove. The song unfolds as a nocturnal conversation between two lost souls, each wrapped in their own misdirection and subtle seduction.
The narrative blurs the line between truth and façade as the protagonists cling to the illusion of innocence, repeating the refrain “we’re just killing time” while denying what’s slowly bubbling beneath the surface. The chorus — “You can talk to me” — also serves as both a comfort and a challenge, revealing layers of vulnerability beneath a cool exterior.
Von Venn is the creative vision of Dublin’s Gary Cox, who handles vocals, guitars, bass, and synths. He is joined by Terry Doyle on keyboards, synths, and vocals, Ciara Henry on vocals, and Mark Wogan on drums. Together, they create a sound that nods to the indie and alternative greats of the past while establishing a distinctly modern voice too.
Following the critical success of their previous album Jeanie Is Out, which featured the standout singles Ghost and Constant Girl, Forgetting The Fall — due Nov. 21 — promises to be a bold new collection of songs that explore life’s emotional landscape, moving from youthful innocence through tangled motives and eventual redemption. Written throughout 2024 and recorded and produced at Soundcaster Studios in Dublin, the LP showcases the band’s signature melodic hooks, lush harmonies, and storytelling steeped in introspection and grit.
