THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “For the last 20 years, Preston Pfanz & The Seaton Sands have been living an almost-secret existence, playing their very British take on the guitar instro oeuvre.
Allegedly containing sometime members of such combos as The Thanes, Les BOF!, The New Piccadillys, Lord Rochester, The Paper Sparrows and The Baron Nonesutch Band, these guys have been anonymously sneaking about twanging away around the U.K. & Europe, playing headline gigs and in support to the likes of Billy Childish, The 5.6.7.8’s, The Unclaimed and extensively touring with The Masonics.
Although their first 45 Knockhill Chicane, their EP Big Beat Guitar Party and two BBC sessions on the Vic Galloway show were met with great acclaim — all more than 10 years ago — it has taken until now for The Sands’(as their fans prefer to call them) to release their first long playing platter, Return To Burnt Island.
Containing mainly original material, the album also contains some favourites from their live set. These include Bert Weedon’s Ginchy, The Krew Kats’ Peak Hour and a demented take on the traditional hymn Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho.
The whole package is a perfect encapsulation both sonically and visually of that early stage of British rock ’n’ roll, with a beautiful abstract sleeve designed by Bruce Brand of the Arthole organisation.”
