Sons Of Levin deliver good news and great grooves in their funky new single Ecclesiastes — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The Boston blues-rock jammers’ latest release — and the third single from their upcoming EP — is an infectious track that hones in on societal topics like freedom and justice. Sons of Levin see the unification of humanity through loving and supporting one another as vital to defending ourselves against the world’s obstacles. Utilizing spunky rhythms and honest lyricism, they ignite the song with an energetic feel, spotlighting the importance of music as a form of expression, bringing us all together during difficult times.
Ecclesiastes encompasses Stevie Wonder-inspired funk, Vulfpeck-style breakdowns, a rock ’n’ roll tonal landscape and open lyricism, presenting an impressive punch against the trials and tribulations we all face. As they put it: “In short, the message is this: The issues we face as a united humanity are real, but we must remember, we have faced these threats before, albeit in different forms. Freedom, justice, and even the soul, are under attack. Our history as human beings has shown that we will overcome any and all obstacles if we stick together and love one another.
“Music can be a vehicle for this unity. Admittedly, music cannot solve any of these problems on its own. However, it can be a form of expression to propel ourselves towards harmony and a delight in another’s gifts. Hopefully you can delight in and enjoy this song.”
Sons Of Levin, led by brothers Dylan and Connor Levinson, are a blues-driven jam band rooted in Boston. The Levinson brothers began performing together in middle school, gradually evolving a high-energy sound and style fueled by classic-rock influences and delivered with an improvisational edge. At the heart of the band are Dylan’s dynamic vocals, Connor’s captivating guitar riffs, and the funky keyboards of Dana Goodwin and Jesse Mattison. Driving the groove is a powerhouse rhythm section featuring Connor Frawley on bass, Ben Kersh on drums and Jesse Mattison on organ. The band take cues from rock legends like The Allman Brothers Band, Led Zeppelin and Grateful Dead, inspiring them to create music that highlights spontaneity, versatility and authenticity with a spunky twist.
Their upcoming EP leans into their vintage rock roots through carefully crafted tracks, produced with an emphasis on live tracking and instrumental jams, demonstrating their evolving modern sound. Sons Of Levin bring the joy, groove, and unapologetic dose of dad-rock to the music scene with their bold soundscape. Ecclesiastes provides listeners with a dose of what to expect from their upcoming EP. Mixed and mastered by Jan Schwartz, with engineering by Colin Fleming, the track serves to unite listeners through its sonically contagious energy, catchy melodies, and unique rhythms.
