This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
Another Day On Earth is ambient pioneer Brian Eno’s first song-oriented solo disc in more than 20 years. Of course, song is a relative term.
You won’t find any catchy little pop ditties on this umpteenth platter from Brian Peter George St. Baptiste de la Salle Eno (which is kind of a long name for minimalist icon, doncha think?). Heck, you won’t even find anything as hooky as My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts or Here Come The Warm Jets. But you will find a series of Eno’s typically lush and swirly soundscapes, augmented by pretty melodies, understated rhythms, enigmatic lyrics and intimate vocals from the man himself. Combined, they ensure that the mature and moody Another Day On Earth is not just another Eno album.
