Paul Nourigat urges you to hang in there on his new single and video Don’t Say Game Over — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The lead single from the singer-songwriter’s upcoming sixth album Curious Directions, the moving cut celebrates the special people around us who persevere every day against the barriers that life, society and the world at large put in their path. More specifically, Don’t Say Game Over pays tribute to Oregon’s LEAP (Life Expanding Adventure Program), who organize life-changing river trips for groups of people facing unique challenges.
“This song is a tribute to the organizations and individuals who support the pursuits of people who society so easily casts aside,” he says. “I’m an absolute believer in the potential of every person, regardless their situation or age.”
This Americana original is blessed with the presence of Atlanta vocalist Carrie K and Italian guitarist Michele C, with mixing/mastering credits to Paul’s hometown producer, Portland’s Adam Selzer, and longtime executive editor Lisa Marie. Due in October, Curious Directions will once again spotlight his “muiti-genre-Americana” style, delivering 15 takes on the curious paths of life we either choose, or which are chosen for us.
Paul’s storytelling is wrapped in rich and diverse musical compositions, which he credits to instrumentalists he engages around the world. On Curious Directions, listeners will hear instrumentalists from Paris, Atlanta, London, Cypress, Kiev, Milan, Rio de Janeiro, Istanbul, and his hometown in Portland. The album is packed with stories of life’s good sides, and his compelling belief in the future, with a sprinkling of caution on a few tracks.
Born into an American family in Taiwan, Nourigat relocated to Turkey, then Germany, and then onto the U.S., ultimately living in 12 homes before his adult years, forming his broad range of perspectives, empathy, and appreciation for various paths in life. Paul was a musical spectator until gifting himself his first guitar for his 60th birthday in 2018. That $100 used Stella opened-up a world of music he’d not known, birthing six albums in the past four years, including 53 originals. With a growing lyrical pipeline of 200 unpublished songs, Paul is already looking ahead to additional albums, and expanded collaborations.
