Giampaolo Pasquile bridges the past, present and future on his soulful new album The Fake Truth — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The acclaimed producer, engineer and musical visionary’s new album is a bold and emotionally driven work that pushes boundaries by merging the rich sounds of the past with cutting-edge technology — including artificial intelligence — all while keeping the human element at its heart.
The Fake Truth is a reflection on the rapidly evolving nature of music, technology, and the human experience. While the future appears increasingly distant from humanity, Pasquile invites listeners to reflect on the past and question the future through a combination of nostalgia and innovation. The album draws inspiration from the idea that while we cannot change what the future holds, we can shift our perspective on the past to rewrite its meaning, our dreams, and our expectations.
“I’m a deeply nostalgic person,” Pasquile reflects. “I love the sound of the past — its authenticity, its warmth, its breath. But I chose to do this project to challenge myself, to punish myself a little, to force myself to be more pragmatic. If I cling too tightly to the past, I’ll end up suffocating and getting left behind. And I don’t want to be left behind.”
While the album is deeply rooted in human creativity and experience, it is also an exploration of how AI can enhance the creative process. AI is not the creator of the music — every sound, word, and decision passes through Pasquile’s hands — but as a tool, it amplifies ideas and opens doors to new possibilities. “I didn’t want to make an AI-made record,” Pasquile explains. “Every track was crafted with the same level of care and passion I’ve always put into my work. AI was never the creator, only an idea amplifier, a collaborator.”
The album features both entirely human tracks — created from real-life experiences — and hybrid compositions where AI provided suggestions, textures, and ideas, always under human direction. The production challenges traditional ideas of what it means to create music in the modern age, presenting a soundscape that mixes analog warmth with digital innovation.
“For me, the ultimate goal is simple,” says Pasquile. “Whether there’s a real Hammond, an actual piano, or a plugin emulating an 1176 compressor, it’s not about the tools. It’s about whether the listener feels something. It’s about whether they truly listen.”
Pasquile has long been a celebrated figure in the global music scene. With an extensive career spanning multiple genres — pop, R&B, jazz, classical — and a string of successful collaborations with icons such as Mike Posner, Tears For Fears, Stewart Copeland, will.i.am and many others, Pasquile’s contributions to music have shaped the landscape for over two decades. His work has garnered platinum certifications and even earned him Grammy nominations.
