A couple of days ago it was 36° C. Tomorrow it might snow. You just can’t depend on Mother Nature anymore. Thankfully, you can always rely on these metal soldiers to report for duty — armed with an arsenal of destructive new singles and videos. Crank it up and hunker down:

In/Vertigo | Save Me

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Canadian hard rockers In/Vertigo return with new music, unleashing their explosive single Save Me. The track is the first preview of their upcoming EP Prevail, due July 18. Formed in 2016 by seasoned Calgary musicians, In/Vertigo have made a name for themselves across Western Canada with their high-energy live shows and relentless touring. The band has shared stages with acts such as Buckcherry, Steel Panther, Bret Michaels, Bif Naked, Diamond Head and Pop Evil, becoming a must-see name in the modern hard rock scene. Save Me is a blistering anthem that shows In/Vertigo pushing their sound into even more aggressive territory. Fusing their rock ’n’ roll backbone with punk and thrash influences, the track hits like a freight train — raw, fast, and unrelenting.”

Ophiolatry | Jesus Complex

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Brazilian death metal force Ophiolatry are unveiling their video for Jesus Complex, the second single from their upcoming album Serpent’s Verdict, due June 6. The video introduces viewers to the ritualistic atmosphere that defines their long-awaited return. The band shares the story behind the single: “This story is totally terrifying: you wake up, go out, and discover that everyone is wearing a Jesus mask. His gaze pierces you deeply, transmiƫng a strange and oppressive feeling. It becomes even more suffocating when you look in the mirror and see that you are also wearing the mask. In a world where identity disintegrates under the weight of imposed doctrine, the fear of conformity is a struggle between imposed faith and one’s own identity.”

Augurium | Morningstar

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Regina’s symphonic death metal outfit Augurium return with their first taste of new music in 2025. Fans of the band are in for a positive surprise. It’s still the same Augurium they’ve been listening to since their 2023 album Unearthly Will, but Morningstar song taps into a more emotional side. “For us as a band, it represents a sort of new Augurium, still within the same style we’ve been playing since 2021, yet naturally evolving,” says guitarist Cejay Carnochan. “The goal was to create a dramatic listening experience — almost like the progression of a film. There are highs and lows, emotionally driven sections, movements that depict scenes in a hero’s journey, and crushing, deafening moments. This is the first half of a sonic saga portraying the struggle between opposing forces.”

Beriedir | Burnout

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Italian progressive metal act Beriedir unveil the video for Burnout, the emotional centerpiece of their album Liminal Spaces. Musically and lyrically, Burnout captures the very essence of the record. A song about mental exhaustion, the crushing weight of self-imposed pressure, and the relentless cycle of overexertion, Burnout blends technical complexity with emotional immediacy. The track opens with hammering rhythmic patterns and aggressive riffs before collapsing into a fragile, almost sobbing pause culminating in a melodic death-inspired finale of overwhelming intensity. “Filling all the time we have, keeping the furnace burning as everything gets consumed,” Beriedir say. “Writing page after page, until something breaks. Silence falls in an instant, like the noises in the forest when a predator is present. But the only threat to us, in the solitude of sleepless nights, is ourselves. The cycle never stops: our mind becomes incandescent, works non-stop, then burns out. Then it starts again.”

Rimmar | Planet Mars

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “It’s a dream come true, lasting for years. Now everything can begin!” With these words, Marco Rinaldi announces the official debut of his visionary solo project Rimmar, and unveils the first single Planet Mars. Completely written, composed, and arranged by Rinaldi, Planet Mars is the first chapter in a sonic journey that blends the power of classic, progressive, and industrial metal with disco and electronic elements. A bold and cinematic opening track that sets the tone for his debut album Raises, Planet Mars hovers between the past and the future, echoing with the urgency of rebirth and the desire to rise from a stagnant world. Says Rinaldi: “This album was born in the past, matured in the present, and projected into the future like a spaceship.”

Dead Fields Of Woolwich | Cult Of The Cemetery Light

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE:Dead Fields Of Woolwich unleash Cult of The Cemetery Light, the first single from their forthcoming sophomore album Monarch Of The Grave, due out late this year. Dead Fields Of Woolwich began in North Bay in 2020, when multi-instrumentalist Kye Bell (Withing Nostalgia, Falamh) created a gloomy, doom metal project focused on dreary lyrics and a gothic-laden sound. Recruiting Alyssa Broere on vocals, the dark twosome began their musical journey. Now, for their second album, they have expanded to a full-fledged band with the addition of guitarist Dave Strba, bassist Greg Meir and drummer Kyle Taylor.”

Shores Of Null | A Nature In Disguise (Live)

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Italian melancholic dark metal band Shores Of Null just released their first live album, Beauty Over Europe. To celebrate, they are also sharing a new live video for A Nature In Disguise. The audio track was recorded live at Backstage in Munich, while the footage was taken  by Péter Lerch during the band’s 2023 European tour with Swallow The Sun, Draconian and Avatarium, which included 35 shows across 18 countries, including Norway, Denmark, Germany, the U.K., Ireland, France, Italy, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Hungary.”

Symbiotic Growth | Lost In Fractured Reveries

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Canadian progressive blackened death unit Symbiotic Growth have unleashed a lyric video for Lost In Fractured Reverie, the latest single from their recent sophomore album Beyond The Sleepless Aether. Similar to their 2020 self-titled full-length, the album is based in fiction and lyrically conceptual — but this release dives more into thoughts and emotions of everyday life, and sometimes those thoughts are hard to deal with. It’s progressive, experimental, foreboding, and emotional; every song has its own identity and place within the album’s story, taking its protagonist through the multiverse, placing him in places like dark wooded forests, wide open desert landscapes, and the unending cosmos. “The song is about the last stop through the protagonist’s journey on the proggiest song on the album,” they say. “He finds himself floating within the cosmos, seeing all of time and every universe being woven together like a web, contemplating his entire existence, whether he ever even mattered in any time or in any universe. The jumping time signatures and tempo changes lend a hand to the uncertainty that feels within the song.”

Liminal Spirit | Pathways

THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE:Liminal Spirit, the musical project of multi-instrumentalist Jerry Hauppa, have released Pathways, an concept piece designed as an immersive journey through spiritual thresholds and interdimensional spaces. The followup to a 2024 self-titled EP, Pathways expands on Liminal Spirit’s signature sound: A rich fusion of doom metal with cinematic atmosphere. Hauppa comments: “I view this as a full-length release despite its 14-minute duration, because due to the nature of its composition of non-repeating passages, it requires multiple listens to fully cement itself within the listener. The first pass will express the story and characters, and repeated listens will bring both to life through digesting the melodies and composition as a whole.”
