Kyle Waves falls in love at first sight in his new single and video Thinking Bout It — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
The vibrant pop singer’s dance-heavy and vocally radiant track — a prelude to his upcoming EP — is a pulsing electropop anthem that delves into the intimidating yet attractive nature of newfound love.
Thinking Bout It is a hypnotic synth-pop banger that reveals the vast array of complicated emotions when initiating a fresh connection with someone. This track has an electrifying, infectious melody that calls for dancing, while also containing well-crafted lyrics. “I’m a romantic person, and there’s really just something about the experience of love at first sight that I find so enticing and inspiring,” Waves explains. “It’s shy, and it’s nerve-wracking, but it’s also exciting and joyous.”
Waves depicts this moment as unique and special for every individual who has encountered someone that ignites an instant flirtatious chemistry. “In this song, I wanted to capture my own experience with it and the flirtation that comes immediately after that moment, but also make it feel like something worth dancing about,” he continues.
Not only crafting this song for himself but hoping it resonates with others, Waves explains, “I actually hope that somebody somewhere will find all of that whilst this song plays.” Featuring an uplifting sonic landscape, unforgettable beats, and meaningful lyrics, Thinking Bout It was written by Waves, produced by Lewis Cullin, and mixed and mastered by Kai Tsao (KLND Audio).
A Singapore-born, New York-based artist, Waves makes music that encapsulates the various emotions that go along with love, loss, and friendship. He draws inspiration from the melodies of Sade and Kylie Minogue, the writing styles of Troye Sivan and Tinashe, and the dance and visual aesthetics of K-pop artists such as Lexie Liu and Jackson Wang. His music has been spun in Singapore, notched multiple chart entries and been championed in the media. His songs also served as the basis for Going To The Top, a play presented at the Tampa International Fringe Festival.
With its catchy, atmospheric sound, Thinking Bout It reflects Waves’ journey with love and his commitment to uplifting listeners and encouraging authenticity. Love can often be perceived as scary, but Waves normalizes the many emotive effects discovering a kinetic connection can have on someone.
