This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
Eno and Eluvium both start with E. If this is a coincidence, it’s a fitting one.
It takes only a brief exposure to the slowly evolving soundscapes of Matthew Cooper to understand his sonic debt to ambient pioneer Brian Eno. Of course, it takes only a slightly longer exposure to his third release Talk Amongst The Trees to understand that Cooper brings something of his own to the table, injecting his swooshing textures, haunting drones and soothing synths with just enough melody, noise and gently pulsing rhythm to keep your brain engaged. Both may start from the same point, but Eluvium ends up taking you somewhere more recognizable than Eno usually did.
