Clela Errington guides you through the depths of Full Moon Dark Time in her poignant and powerful single and video — showcasing today on Tinnitist.
With a voice timeless and true, the Toronto singer-songwriter — accompanied by her daughter, jazz singer Jocelyn Barth — shares a preview of Walkin’ Each Other Home, her fifth studio album. The breathtaking harmonies between mother and daughter on this slow waltz bring a rare depth to this haunting folk ballad. When the two sing together, they create that magical vocal blend that transports the listener.
With its two gorgeous voices, eternal imagery of nature, and beguiling melody, Full Moon Dark Time starts with a single image of a moonlit night, then becomes a touching anthem of care and concern. “It was written as a love letter to a dear friend whose daughter was struggling with mental health,” says Errington. With its poignant refrain, “Hold on to dear life,” it offers a message of resilience and connection. The performance video for Full Moon Dark Time, is equally simple, but no less engaging.
Errington has been praised for her ability to bring tenderness and emotional honesty to a song, with critics comparing her voice to those of Joni Mitchell, Anne Murray and Eva Cassidy. Whether performing original material or re-imagining classics, she creates an atmosphere of intimacy and authenticity.
Born in Montreal and raised on the St Lawrence river in Brockville, in the 1000 Islands region, Errington followed the river to Prince Edward Island on Canada’s East coast. There, she was first introduced to blues, folk, country and Celtic music. She lived in P.E.I. and performed throughout the Maritimes in a duo with vocalist Dawne Fraser. Eventually returning to Ontario and settling in Toronto, Errington is now part of the city’s rich music scene — as a featured performer and a backup vocalist, often collaborating with other artists, both onstage and in the studio.
Most recently, Errington’s composition White Dove was arranged for choir by Toronto musicologist Mike Daley, and was performed in March 2025 by the University of Toronto Hart House Chorus under the direction of Daniel Norman.
