THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Thin Lizzy’s new album The Acoustic Sessions is essentially their version of MTV Unplugged. Revamping and updating the band’s catalog to a new and wider audience, this unique project offers fans a rare opportunity to experience their classic hits like never before.
For these songs, previously unheard vocals recorded by legendary frontman Phil Lynott have been seamlessly incorporated into new recordings, perfectly complemented by guitarist Eric Bell’s fresh acoustic arrangements and Brian Downey’s dynamic drumming. Drawing on material from the band’s legendary Decca era, the album presents tracks from Thin Lizzy’s first three albums in an intimate, stripped-down format that will delight both longtime fans and a new generation of listeners.
Producer and mixer Richard Whittaker, working alongside Bell, went to huge lengths to use the original tapes, vocals and instrumentation, with the only new addition being Eric’s acoustic guitar parts, recorded in Belfast at the Oh Yeah! Centre Studios. Each track on the album is a fresh version of a song featured on the 50th-anniversary Super Deluxe Editions of Vagabonds Of The Western World — the band’s breakthrough — their self-titled debut and Shades Of A Blue Orphanage.
The album includes the first-ever acoustic version of Whiskey In The Jar, the song that first propelled the band to international fame. This reinterpretation of a classic hit is a testament to the enduring appeal of Thin Lizzy’s music and offers a new take on their legacy that is both timeless and contemporary.”
