THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Magpie (Expansion Pack) is the followup to last year’s Magpie, the fourth album from Vancouver four-piece Peach Pit. The expansion pack finds the quartet — lead singer Neil Smith, guitarist Chris Vanderkooy, bassist Peter Wilton and drummer Mikey Pascuzzi — diving deeper into the world of Magpie with eight alternative versions, a cover, and a brand-new song titled Tell Me You Love Me.
“Welcome to the Magpie Expansion Pack,” says Smith. “This is a collection of songs assembled from old demos, first takes, alternate versions, covers and new unreleased music.” The first single from the album was a duet of Did You Love Somebody with Sir Chloe. “We had always imagined this song to be performed by two people, the original DYLS from our record Magpie is sung alone, giving the impression that one lovelorn person to another is begging for reassurance that they are loved. Now with Chloe’s duet vocals and new second verse written by her, the song has changed into its true form, an intimate conversation between a couple experiencing the doubts and insecurities that show up when you’re falling in love.”
