Classic Album Review: Sloan | A Sides Win: Singles 1992 – 2005

This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Beginning with the first song off their first album — Underwhelmed from Smeared — and going all the way to their latest single All Used Up, this long-overdue 16-song compilation from these Halifax veterans tracks the highlights of a career that has taken them from noisy post-grungers to CanCon power-pop stalwarts.

YEARS: 1992 – 2005 (duh).

HIGHLIGHTS: Everybody has their favourite Sloan tunes. Mine include the bashful Coax Me, the bashing Money City Maniacs and the sunny The Good In Everyone. Whatever yours are, chances are they’re here too.

EXTRAS! EXTRAS! Two rocking new cuts — All Used Up and Try To Make It — and a 32-page booklet of photos and lyrics. Supposedly there’s also a deluxe version with a bonus DVD of videos and TV appearances.
