This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
Making a breakthrough album 25 years into your recording career is no small feat.
But Chicago blues legend Buddy Guy pulled it off fairly handily with his umpteenth disc Damn Right, I’ve Got the Blues, which earned the hard-working singer-guitarist his first Grammy. Granted, it might have had something to do with the all-star guest list that includes Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler. But you can’t deny the 55-year-old Guy was at the top of his form, whipping off some serious fretboard pyrotechnics and soulful vocals.
YEAR: 1991.
HIGHLIGHTS: The gritty title cut; the cover of John Hiatt’s Where Is The Next One Coming From; the horn-fueled Early In The Morning.
EXTRAS! EXTRAS! Two leftovers included to justify calling this an Expanded Edition.
