Classic Album Review: mcenroe & Birdapres | Nothing Is Cool

This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Former Winnipegger, current Vancouver indie-label entrepreneur and eternal champion of the lower case, mcenroe shares the mic with like-minded rhymer Birdapres (and DJ Hunnicutt) for a 55-minute set of sharp cuts, head-nodding grooves, laid-back flow and some spectacular vernacular. Which is another way of saying, it’s on par with every other release in the Peanuts & Corn catalogue.

STYLE: Underground hip-hop partners in rhyme.

SOUNDS LIKE: Two MCs and one DJ, getting down with no delay.

STANDOUTS: Opener 5000 Watts gets the party started right, but the title cut, the offkilter Supposed and the one-finger sendoff F*@k You 2K3 keep it going on.
