This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
If Gordon Gekko fronted Dead Kennedys, they would have been The Yuppie Pricks.
Hailing from Austin, these long-serving punk satirists don’t just have an ironic handle; they take their spoofery to the next level. Posing as a billionaire boys club of slumming scions and fatcats, the Pricks spew satirical singalongs to coke, champagne, Corvettes and corporate jets — and even toss money to the crowd on occasion. Better still, on this high-concept debut, they toss out tunes with all the yelpy vocals, cocked eyebrows and twitchy punk frenzy of classic DKs (with the odd nugget of gritty, Stooges-style garage-rawk). Sure, the gag gets old fast. But in the short term, it’s pretty rich.
