This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
Some bands want to be on the cover of CMJ. The Weekend want to be on the soundtrack to a teen flick.
At least, that’s where the tunes on this female-fronted London outfit’s second disc seem to belong. Expertly (if predictably) assembled from a palette of crunchy guitars, punchy backbeats, new wave keys and catchy choruses, Beatbox My Heart’s 11 infectious power-pop ditties about love and the lack thereof could be a long-lost Juliana Hatfield album from the ’90s. Or the theme to the next Lindsay Lohan movie.
