Tyson Swindell & Gerardo Beltrán Start The Lo-Fi Party With A Casio Doom Song

The dynamic duo unveil the first single from their upcoming collaborative EP.

Tyson Swindell and Gerardo Beltrán begin to renounce everything in their power with their ironically titled new synth-pop treat Casio Doom Song — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

“Yo!,” exclaims a voice to begin the track. “If any of you feel compelled to get up and dance, you could do it. Just… go ahead.” It’s a fine idea — not that you’ll need much encouragement. As that voice echos off into the distance, the seductive track slowly but surely coalesces around throbbing bass tones, a percolating Latin-conga groove spiked with beatbox handclaps and a distorto-buzz melody that will have you nodding your own head and chasing your tail like the single cover’s cartoon rats caught in a synth-punk circuit board maze.

Upbeat, irresistible and anything but gloomy, Casio Doom Song is the first single from Swindell and Beltrán’s upcoming collaborative EP We Renounce Everything. Swindell (Sepat Tapes) and Beltrán (Instituto Mexicano del Sonido / Mexican Institute of Sound) collaborated between Mexico City and New York City to iron out the three instrumental lo-fi handiworks. Look for Marlowe’s Loog Lullaby on April Fool’s Day, followed by Chord Modulation om May 6.
