Classic Album Review: Elektrik Prophet | When the Towers Fall

This came out in 2005 — or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

STYLE: Passion playing.

SOUNDS LIKE: The Holy Ghost in the machine.

POINTED COMMENTS: If you plan to buy just one Christian electronica-rock concept album-song cycle about spirituality, salvation and Sept. 11 — well, it would probably have to be this sui generis “musical drama” from Peter Boothroyd. The British-born composer and multi-instrumentalist acquits himself capably as a songwriter and player — and definitely gets extra points for conceptual ambition. On the other hand, he’s not an especially dynamic vocalist, and some of his more pointed lyrics — like the anti-abortion cut Unborn Persecution — might alienate potential listeners.

STANDOUT: You Found Me pretty much defines the term “spirited rocker.”
