Classic Album Review: Outrageous Cherry | Our Love Will Change the World

This came out in 2005 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):

Seven albums into their career, Outrageous Cherry haven’t changed a bit. And that is a good thing.

These Detroit psychedelic-garagers led by the prolific Matthew Smith are still the reigning refugees of retro-pop. They still sound like a seamless synthesis of virtually every important Sunset Strip band from the Summer of Love, with all the thumpy tom-toms, choppy guitars, sunny harmonies and lysergic creativity intact. They still record everything using old technology and techniques. And on these dozen paisley-patterned, reverb-soaked cuts, they still sound like the great lost band of the ’60s. Find Our Love Will Change the World and see if it doesn’t change yours for the better.
