This came out in 2005 – or at least that’s when I got it. Here’s what I said about it back then (with some minor editing):
LeAnn Rimes has learned her lesson.
After falling flat on her face with a wrong turn into teen-pop on 2002’s Twisted Angel, the 22-year-old powerhouse plays it safe on her return CD This Woman. Beating a hasty retreat to her country-pop comfort zone, Rimes unveils a set of hook-filled ditties straight from Dixie Chicks’ reject pile. Truth be told, Rimes plays it a little too safe — these smartly produced tunes are likeable and listenable, but too lightweight for a talent of her size. Ultimately, LeAnn might be better off taking a few more steps backward to the traditional torch ‘n’ twang of her Blue period. Guess she still has a few things to learn.
