Andy Frasco & The U.N. blend chaos and optimism with the most basic of life lessons in their inspirational and irreverent new single and video Try Not To Die — showcasing today on Tinntist.
While other artists wade into the weeds with complex arguments and tortured analyses of the microscopic minutiae behind the myriad woes of modern existence, Frasco zooms out, takes in the big picture and succinctly sums it all up in the four simple words of common-sense advice at the heart of his new single. Even better: He voices this simple truism in tones that recall classic Paul Simon — and sets it against a groovy Latin-tinged folk-pop backbeat that takes you and Julio down by the schoolyard, accompanied by some sweetly glowing slide guitar work that recalls David Lindley jamming with George Harrison.
Co-written with producer Chris Gelbuda during a creative reset in Nashville, Try Not To Die blends humor with heartfelt advice — all buoyed by the band’s signature mix of kaleidoscopic musical fusion and infectious energy. The result: A cheeky, heartfelt anthem about embracing life’s messiness that serves as a rallying cry and reminder to simplify, connect, and find love and fun along the way:
“Ain’t it insane how we all make it
So difficult, so complicated
none of it matters, it’s just a crazy ride
So pay all your bills
Stay off the pills
Try not to die!”

“My goal as a musician and songwriter has always been to get people out of their echo chambers to grow,” says Frasco. “You can’t grow unless you hear both sides. My hope is people break out of their depression and think of a different way to live life. I try to write optimistically depressing songs. I’m always looking for silver linings.”
The single builds on the momentum of L’Optimist, Frasco’s most introspective album to date, which balanced resilience and humor while exploring life’s challenges. A master of reinvention, Frasco has also cultivated a loyal following beyond his music. His World Saving Podcast has featured candid conversations with icons like Tony Hawk and Margaret Cho, while his World Saving ShitShow variety series captivated millions during the pandemic with its blend of music, comedy and unfiltered fun.
Frasco’s genre-defying sound and dynamic personality have made him a beacon of joy and authenticity. Whether hosting virtual dance parties, championing mental health awareness, or delivering raucous live performances, he brings an unmatched mix of humor, honesty, and humanity to everything he does. Now, he and his band are gearing up for a massive North American tour that promises unforgettable nights filled with surprises. Highlights include stops at iconic venues and high-profile festival appearances. Known for their audacious live shows, Frasco and co. are guaranteed to turn every performance into a celebration of life.
