THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Huxlii’s world is one where fantasy collides with the everyday. Taking the otherworldly and meshing it with the mundane is her signature recipe.
Huxlii (real name: Sabrina Carrizo Sztainbok) has been making music since she was 14 that she describes as “art pop with a punk heart.” She originally started off in the riot grrrl-inspired band Pins & Needles, and played bars and venues across Toronto while still underage. Now solo, she explores complex themes of longing, loneliness and insecurity through conversational lyrics and a melodic bedroom punk style.
So This Is It, he debut single from her EP Odds and Ends, But Mostly Ends is a high-energy rock anthem adamant about denying vulnerability and choosing to run away. Chugging gritty guitars and soaring vocal melodies lend a confessional spirit to offbeat and evasive lyrics. The release will be accompanied by a campy VHS-fueled video featuring angels, nosebleeds and chainmail. So This Is It is the first step in a new era for Huxlii, exchanging bedroom recordings for the studio and expanding her world of quirk-rock.”
