THE EDITED PRESS RELEASE: “Paul Heaton’s new solo album The Mighty Several was produced by Ian Broudie of The Lightning Seeds and recorded at Blueprint Studios in Salford. It features 12 new songs performed by Paul, his band and a number of guest singers, including Heaton’s regular live vocalist Rianne Downey as well as Yvonne Shelton and Danny Muldoon (all of whom are pictured on the album alongside Paul).
Heaton, who was recognised at the prestigious Ivor Awards in 2022 for Outstanding Song Collection, is one of the U.K.’s most successful songwriters, with 15 million album sales over the couse of his career. He first came to prominence in the early ’80s as The Housemartins frontman. Following the band’s breakup, Heaton formed The Beautiful South in 1988, with the band becoming one of the biggest-selling U.K. acts of all time, releasing 10 hugely successful albums before calling it a day in 2007.
Paul released his first solo album Fat Chance in 2001, followed by two further solo albums, a musical called The 8th and — after teaming up with former Beautiful South bandmate Jacqui Abbott — released five acclaimed albums as a duo, with their last two going straight into the U.K. chart at No. 1.”
