Charlie Rogers Checks His Missed Calls

The Nashville singer-songwriter dives into the depths of depression on his new cut.

Charlie Rogers explains all those Missed Calls in his vulnerable, refreshingly honest new single — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

The Nashville singer dives into the melancholy of seasonal depression on his latest release, exploring the repercussions of living in an all-consuming emotional state, all while set to the beat of an energetic, head-bopping track.

Injected with a perfectly portioned dose of synth pop chaos and organic instrumentation by producer Jess Grommet, Missed Calls invites the listener into what is undeniably a touchy subject matter through the comfort of moving, often invigorating, musicality. Co-written with singer-songwriter Frye, Rogers delves into the synergy between changing seasons and depression.

Rogers’ vulnerability in Missed Calls transcends into a powerful message of self-reliance and finding comfort amid loneliness. Melodic harmonies are coupled with his electrifying tone, leaving music enthusiasts feeling understood when words are simply not enough. As Rogers and Frye were writing Missed Calls, they wanted to convey the different ways seasonal depression can present itself, while capturing their own experiences.

Missed Calls is a laid-back drive into what it’s like to experience a depressive episode,” explains Rogers. “The idea for the song originated when my co-writer Frye and I were discussing the ways in which our seasonal depressions manifest themselves; along with what that looks and feels like.”

For a feeling that is often overlooked, Rogers charms his audience by turning the collective gloominess of the transitioning seasons into a striking display of sensitivity, showcasing his profound creativity and masterful storytelling.

Oregon-born and Kansas-raised, Rogers is renowned for his genre-alchemizing sound that seamlessly bridges contemporary country and pop-rock. He began singing and writing at a young age, striving to connect with others and close the emotional gaps that leave people feeling excluded and misunderstood. Now based in Nashville, Rogers has opened for Russell Dickerson, Janelle Arthur and Brothers Osborne. He was also named one of the Hot 100 Unsigned Artists of 2023 by Music Connection Magazine.
