Redpath Traffic Shout Hey Mona!

The Toronto trio mix pop, rockabilly & more into a sweet tale of looking for a lost love.

Redpath Traffic get your attention with their new single and video Hey Mona! — showcasing today on Tinnitist.

With their signature mix of vintage guitar pop, rockabilly and blues — not to mention a dash of punk — the Toronto trio tell unique, introspective stories of love, loss, redemption, and change. This electric crew blend sonic moods and sweeping movements into their distinctive original music, creating a sound that’s uniquely theirs.

In their sophomore single Hey Mona!, the storyteller yearns for the company of love lost. Mona represents all that seems distant, indifferent, unattainable, and beyond our control to keep for ourselves. It speaks to one’s proclamation that — perhaps selfishly — “What you need out there isn’t possibly as important as what I need from you here.”

Hitting the sweet spot between Buddy Holly, The Beatles and Stray Cats, Hey Mona! was written by Redpath Traffic singer-guitarist Rick Todd and produced by award-winning music vet Chris Birkett. An alternate version with an extended opening will be available on the band’s upcoming album Under the Crimson Sun, due in April. Along with Todd, the band features Mark Fernley on bass and Kerem Balci on drums.
