Tinnitist TV | Episode 70: Steven Tobi Of The Nearly Deads

The Nashville alt-rocker on their next album, his new novella, hot chicken & more.

A lot of musicians are one-trick ponies. Not Steven Tobi. He’s closer to a rock ’n’ roll Renaissance man.

First and foremost of course, he’s one-fourth of Nashville-based alt-rock outfit The Nearly Deads, who just released the single Suffocating, the latest preview of their forthcoming (and long-awaited) sophomore album We Are The Nearly Deads. But that’s just job 1 for Tobi. He also composes music for films, TV and video games. And he just published his first novella The Broken Man, a supernatural thriller about a couple haunted by loss and grief. Despite having more oars in the water than a rowing team, Tobi took the time to Zoom in from Tennessee to talk about music, movies, hot chicken and plenty more. Here’s how it went.
